Home Reentry Program Mentor
The Village is working collaboratively with Catholic Charities and other churches in DC with Returning Citizens in Washington, DC.
There are approximately 8,000 Returning Citizens every year coming back to DC and their families. The Village along with Catholic Charities will provide male mentors for Returning Citizens and be a positive influence in their lives. Returning Citizens need career opportunities, care, reconnecting to their families and reconnecting to their communities. So, become a part of The Village and Mentor a Returning Citizen
Welcome Home Reentry Mentors will be responsible for:

Facilitating and supporting mentor relationships
Helping mentee develop goals for reentry
Offering referrals for employment and housing assistance, mental and physical health care, and substance abuse treatment
Providing limited direct support for transportation, educational, or work‐related needs
Maintaining relationships with local judicial system partners

Mentors must be at least 25 years old
Mentors must be able to serve in Washington, DC
Mentors must be able to serve for 1 year

Support:
Mentors will participate in Catholic Charities Volunteer Orientation
Accepted mentors will be matched with a returning citizen who has requested a mentor
The program manager will facilitate the first meeting between a mentor and mentee to assure everyone is comfortable with the match and understands the expectations
Time Commitment:
Volunteers will serve for 4 hours a month
Volunteers must serve for 1 year
Once matched, the volunteer and mentee will determine their own meeting schedule
Location:
